Parents are loving a mum’s post about how boys should be encouraged to express their emotions.
American mum Jamie Primak Sullivan – who once labelled herself the ‘meanest mom ever’ – recently wrote about her upsetting experience at a baseball game.
And the post has gone viral.
The mum-of-three was criticised for comforting her eight-year-old son, Max after he was hit in the face with a ball.
‘I saw it happen like it was slow motion,’ she wrote.
‘I saw his eyes widen and then squint from the pain — he looked around trying to focus. I knew he was looking for me.
‘My feet couldn’t move fast enough. As soon as we connected, I got down on one knee.’
Max cried into her shoulder but a stranger interrupted them, saying: ‘You need to stop babying that kid.’
Jamie sent Max back to join his team once she knew he was OK, but it was only when she was sitting down again, watching the game, that the situation truly sunk in.
‘This notion that boys can never hurt, that they can never feel, is so damaging to them long term,’ she continued.
