Stacey Solomon faces backlash over sharing baths with her 9 and 5-year-old sons

Her sweet bath tub pic led to a heated on-air Loose Women debate.

Stacey and her sons

Stacey Solomon has found herself having to justify her parenting methods after a whopping 92% of the Loose Women audience voted that it was wrong to share a bath with your kids (though – we have to say they specifically said ‘teens’ – a bit different, right?) – just months after she posted a snap of her doing just that with sons Zachary, 9, and Leighton, 5.

The pic was taken back on Mother’s Day, and uploaded to Stacey’s Instagram, where it immediately attracted some negative comments, with one person even claiming ‘this is wrong on so many levels’ 🙄

On the ITV talk show on Friday, the topic was once again being debated, with Stacey telling fellow panelists Andrea McClean, Denise Van Outen and Kaye Adams that she enjoyed taking a bath with her children.

“I’m not horrified at all, anyone who’s horrified by the thought of parents sharing a bath with their children, I think has issues,” she said.

When asked by Kaye Adams if she would still do it if her son was 16, Stacey stood her ground.

“Listen,” she said. “Each to their own. I still have baths with my children. My eldest is 9 and sometimes he gets a bit like, ‘Oh put the bubbles over your boobs, mum, I don’t want to see it’.

“But at the same time, why does the body always have to be looked at as some sexual thing, why can’t it just be the human body? Why’s it not normal?”

When the Instagram pic of her and the boys in the bath was put up on screen, Stacey shrugged it off as a ‘normal’ event in their house.

“Do you know what? It’s really funny actually because I posted that because it’s a normal thing in our house. It’s almost like having dinner and going to bed and reading a bedtime story.

“Having a bath together is how we communicate and socialise and that’s a massive part of our daily routine, but there was a few comments underneath that picture.”

What do you think?

Are you with Stacey – that shared bath-times are great fun for parents and kids?

Do you think the kids will set the timeframe for when it is no longer appropriate, and that as long as everyone is happy with it, then it’s perfectly OK?

Or are you with the Loose Women audience – that beyond babyhood, kids should not be bathing with their mum or dad? Let us know in comments or on Facebook.
